Gastroentero-

hepatology

Gastroenterohepatology is a subspecialty of internal medicine focused on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of digestive system diseases, including the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, pancreas, and spleen.

Gastroenterohepatology involves a diagnostic approach that includes a detailed clinical examination, laboratory tests, ultrasound and modern radiological diagnostics, as well as endoscopic procedures that allow direct visualization of the digestive organ mucosa, biopsy collection, and therapeutic interventions. A gastroenterohepatological examination is recommended for abdominal pain, heartburn, difficulty swallowing, bloating, nausea, vomiting, changes in stool, unexplained weight loss, anemia, liver dysfunction, and other symptoms that may indicate digestive system diseases.
